Iran’s Ashkan Dejagah returns to Wolfsburg

Iranian international midfielder Ashkan Dejagah has signed a contract with Bundesliga side VFL Wolfsburg until the end of the season with an option to extend it for one more year.

The 30-year-old midfielder scored 18 goals and provided 18 assists in 132 appearance for Wolfsburg in his first spell at the club between 2007 and 2012. He also won the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg in 2008-09 season.

 He joined Premier League side Fulham in 2012 and after a two-year spell at the London side he moved to Qatar to play for Al Arabi. After two years with Al Arabi, Dejagah was released from the club in September 2016.

Wolfsburg, who are currently in 14th place in the Bundesliga table, lost 2-1 at home against Augsburg.

Wolfsburg have been busy during the January transfer window as they have already signed Yunus Malli from Mainz 05, Riechedly Bazoer from Ajax and Paul-Georges Ntep from Stade Rennes.
